Dear Shepherd, lead us.
This is a path we do not know.
And we can feel ourselves falling, stumbling, reeling, letting go.
Walking over shards of glass that cut more deeply as we slow.
Dear Shepherd, lead us.
We cannot see the light.
And fear surrounds this secret place of dark. This blackest night.
Dear Shepherd, lead us.
This path is Yours. Don’t let us lose the way.
The storm is fierce and we are bowed so low beneath its battering sway.
And would you carry the little ones?
The weak ones and the ones who fall?
The saddest hearts and those whose pain has crippled them?
The weary, worn? The small?
Dear Shepherd, lead us.
Lead us on.
On to peace and the arms of God.
On to light and green pastures and forever rest.
Lead us to morning. Lead us to joy.
Heal our hearts and hold them fast.
Be our God. Be our Shepherd. Be our Savior.
Gently lead us. Lead us home.
He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young. Isaiah 40:11
He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him. Daniel 2:22
We are praying for you!

Dear Ones,
We are so sad for each of you and so happy for your Princess Warrior, Marissa Alice, who ran faithfully and now claims her prize.
I felt so close to you on Sunday as I worshipped at King Street Church here in Chambersburg PA, and sang “Nearer My God to Thee”.
Verses 3 & 4 say :
“There let my way appear, Steps unto Heaven,
All that thou sendest me in mercy given;
Angels to beckon me. Nearer my God to Thee
Then with my waking thoughts bright with Thy praise
Out of my stony griefs Bethel I’ll raise.
So, by my woes to be; Nearer my God to Thee; Nearer my God to Thee; Nearer to thee.”
I read those words to my good Samaritan class, told them that Marissa would be going Home soon, and saw their tears for you. The “ALLELON” family of God is amazing ! I know that you feel it.
Much Love, Cousin Carol & John

I am so sorry for your loss. I did not know Marissa personally, but have been following her journey through mutual friends. I just wanted to let you know that I had the opportunity to teach Psalm 23 to my high schoolers at a public school. In God’s wisdom, you posted your poem the same day I was planning the lesson. Today, my kids were moved by your poem and saw such a shining example of peace in the midst of a storm. I am praying that God would use this lesson to bring them to a relationship with our Gentle Shepherd. So, thank you. Thank you for your sincerity, openness, and ministry through “the blackest night”.
